Train
Electric Train
noun
You would think that an electricity car was an electric car, but this word actually refers to a different kind of vehicle that's often powered by electricity: a train.
Literally, 電車 refers to an electric train rather than a diesel or steam locomotive. But in everyday Japanese, people often just use it as a general word for "train," since most modern trains in Japan run on electricity anyway.
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well.
