Way Of Saying
Way Of Putting Something, Wording
noun
You know that 言う means "to say," so your way of doing that must be your way of saying something. This refers to your word choice and phrasing — your way of putting something, in other words.
This word uses kun'yomi readings for both kanji. You learned the い reading with 言う, but かた wasn't the main reading you learned for 方, so here's a mnemonic to help it stick:
Your way of saying things is kind of like a catapult (かた) — you like to fire your mouth off and unleash words onto people like projectile weapons. Your catapult-like way of putting something rubs a lot of people the wrong way, so you really ought to tone it down. Otherwise, YOU might end up getting stuffed into a catapult by your friends and family and flung off somewhere far away.
