びょうにん
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well. Note that this uses the にん reading for 人. This is because every sick person enjoys laying in bed playing nintendo.
うつったらいやだから、病人には近よりたくない。
If you don’t want to catch something, you shouldn’t go near sick people.
うらないしに、前世は病人だったと言われました。
The fortuneteller told me that my previous life was as a sick person.
「調子はどうだい?」「絶好調だよ。」「それは良かった。病人からその言葉を聞けるとは思ってもみなかったがな。」
"How’s it going?" "Couldn’t be better." "Good. I’m surprised to hear that from a sick person though."
