You learned 盛 as "pile," but remember how it could also mean "prosperous"? Well, if you're overgrown with prosperous-ness, then you really must be prospering. Business is flourishing and thriving, and money is basically growing on trees for you.
You'll often see 繁盛 in phrases like 繁盛している (doing good business), describing successful places with lots of customers and activity. The nuance is lively and positive — not just surviving, but actively doing well and attracting people.
This is a jukugo word which uses on'yomi readings from the kanji, but 盛 is going to use a different on'yomi than the one you learned. Here's a mnemonic to help you remember it:
You know whose business has really been prospering lately? Joe (じょう), the 10-foot tall farmhand. Joe runs a farm-to-table grocery store where he sells all his produce, and it seems to really be flourishing lately. Sure, half the customers just show up to catch a glimpse of Joe himself — it's not every day you see a 10-foot tall man, after all — but as long as the store is thriving, who really cares?
