If you can read this word, you may well know what it means. It's everybody's second favorite noodle dish, somen, or somen noodles, which are fine white noodles.
The first kanji has a slightly irregular reading because it's prolonged. That's because somen are your soul (そう) food.
みんな冷たい素麺をツルツル食べ始めました。
Everyone started slurping down the cold somen.
最後に素麺を入れるのでスープの味は薄めになっています。
The taste of the soup is lighter because the somen noodles are added at the end.
マミさんが日本から持ってきた素麺を作ってくれた。
Mami made us somen that she'd brought from Japan.
