Deep Red
Crimson, Rouge
noun
The kanji and the word are exactly the same, so this also means deep red, or crimson. Additionally, it can also mean rouge, usually in reference to the cosmetic.
紅 is also a bit of an old-fashioned and somewhat literary word, so keep that in mind!
This is where things get a little complicated. You already learned べに as a reading with 口紅. 紅 can also be read べに just by itself, and in that case, it means rouge. However, there’s a different reading that’s used for deep red, which we’d like to focus on here, so here’s a mnemonic to help you remember it:
There's so much deep red blood everywhere, there's no way of helping this person bleeding out. One might say, cure ない (くれない). Just remember: when there's deep red everywhere, cure ない.

紅の花

紅の色

紅に染まる空を、風だけが静かに横切っていった。
Only the wind quietly moved across the crimson sky.
紅に染まった手をぼんやりと見つめる彼の足元で、雪の上に同じ色の紅がゆっくりと広がっていった。
As he stared blankly at his crimson-stained hands, the same deep red color spread slowly across the snow at his feet.
その紅色の花の名前は何ですか?
What's the name of the dark red flower?
私の好きな曲はX JAPANの『紅』です。激しい感情とロックサウンドが特徴で、主人公の孤独や苦しみを強く表現してる名曲なんです。
My favorite song is "Kurenai" by X JAPAN. It's known for its intense emotions and powerful rock sound, and it's a masterpiece that strongly expresses the protagonist's loneliness and pain.
