Hot
Hot Weather
い adjective
This is a single kanji with an い on the end, so you know this is probably an adjective. What's the adjective form of hot? It's still hot!
暑い is just for hot weather or the surrounding air temperature, not for objects. Use it to describe hot summer days or the inside of a sauna, for example.
This uses the same reading as the one you learned with the kanji, so you're good to go here!
今日も、朝からとても暑い。
It's been really hot again today, right from the morning.
はっきり言って、日本の夏は暑すぎる。
To be frank, summers in Japan are way too hot.
エアコンをつけたのに、部屋の中もどんどん暑くなってきた。
I turned on the air conditioner, but somehow my room kept getting hotter and hotter.
一時間後もまだ暑かった。「なんでだよ!」と思ったら、エアコンじゃなくて、テレビをつけていた。
An hour later, it was still hot. "What the heck?" I thought, then realized I'd turned on the TV instead of the air conditioner.
そりゃ暑いはずだ。暑さで頭もやられてたようだ。
No wonder it was so hot. Looks like the heat had gotten to my head too.
