Finding Employment
Getting A Job, Starting Employment
noun, verbal noun
Getting a position of employment means finding employment.
就職 means getting a job or starting employment, usually after finishing school. It refers to formally entering the workforce, not just casually picking up part-time work. You'll hear it a lot in phrases like 就職活動 (job hunting) or 就職先 (place of employment).
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well.
