Ally
Supporter, Friend
noun, verbal noun, の adjective
You like the flavor of a particular direction, so you go that way. Everyone else going in the same flavor direction is your ally or supporter. They're your flavor direction allies. They have the same tastes and they're chasing the same flavors in life, so naturally they become allies, right?
This word uses the on'yomi reading for 味, but the kun'yomi reading for 方, so watch out for that! You're probably more familiar with the on'yomi for 方, so here's a mnemonic to help with the kun'yomi:
A good ally or supporter is always ready to catapult (かた) you into the best positions. They believe in you so they want what's best for you.
